How to defrost frozen chicken noodle soup quickly?

I have a decently large container of chicken noodle soup sitting out on the counter. It was frozen solid this morning I want to cook it for dinner tonight. What would be the best way to thaw the frozen soup? I was thinking microwave or putting it in a stock pot with a lid. Any ideas? Is this a safe way to defrost the soup without ruining it?
