Going on a bike trip-- any suggestions?

I'm going on a 100 mile bike trip soon, and am looking for some advice. I ride a hybrid, 7 gear bike. I'm not a very experienced biker for distances, and am looking for any tips on preparing, exercises, clothing, safety, accessories (for my bike), or any little things that would be helpful or were to you.
