Should we put aside the candidates positions on issues and just vote for the one we think would best be...?

I agree that people should vote for the people they feel are best suited for the job. The problem there is that the media has tarnished this election with their continued attacks on Palin, citing that she has no experience. It would be nice if their approach was more balanced and more in-line with what you're saying, and just let the best group win.
